Job Purpose:


  • The position requires good understanding and working experience in SAP in manufacturing costing process.
  • This position will assist with the monthly close process as it relates to inventory and cost accounting and will evaluate cost accounting and processes, recommend process improvements and work with internal business partners to implement change.
  • The individual should be highly proficient in analyzing variances and preparing a wide range of reports to meet the needs of various internal business partners including manufacturing to drive process and cost optimization. This position reports to the Controller.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate all cost accounting procedures.
  • Conduct the monthly closing process of the production cost.
  • Prepare and analyze inventory valuations, cost of sales, and variances as required for both internal review and reporting purposes as well as for monthly financial close.
  • Investigate significant trends/variances for cost reduction regarding material, labor, overhead, and other types of costs related to manufacturing products.
  • Prepare Monthly Financial Report and Balance Sheet reconciliation.
  • Lead and coordinate periodic process for setting standard costs; coordinates, audit, and manages physical inventories or cycle counts; prepare labor, material and shipping analysis.
  • Manage inventory observations and cycle counts programs with warehouse managers, suppliers, and internal and external auditors.
  • Recommend, coordinate, and assist with the implementation, improvement and maintenance of internal control, financial systems and annual audit.
  • Design efficient processes to meet corporate month end close schedule and prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Manage audits (external and internal).
  • Special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Background

  • S. in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field; CPA/CMA a plus.
  • 4-8 years of cost accounting experience required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and inter-company transactions.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred, including cost set-up, configuration, and reporting.
  • Must be able to work on a self- initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours including weekends as needed and travel as required.
  • Works closely with Operations organization, understanding supply chain process and inventory control.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Normal office environment, using computers and office equipment and occasionally some lifting.
  • The Associate Manager, Cost Accounting works under minimal supervision, in accordance with established procedures and directly supports Controller.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
