Solaris Paper (SPI) enjoys a strategic supply partnership with Asia Pulp & Paper (APP). Through this partnership, we manage and maintain a vertically integrated business model that provides our end-users with the economic and quality benefits only achieved with such an efficient organization. February 2014, marked the one year anniversary of APP's Forest Conservation Policy (FCP). Click here to learn more about APP's FCP.
As one of the world’s largest pulp and paper companies, APP is responsible for delivering quality products to meet the growing global demand for tissue, packaging and paper. On any given day, our products find their way into the hands of consumers in various branded forms from all over the world.
Started in 1972 with Tjiwi Kimia producing caustic soda,APP now has operations across Indonesia and China with an annual combined pulp, paper, packaging product and converting capacity of over 19 million tons per year. Today, APP markets its products in more than 120 countries across six continents.
In June 2012, APP published their ‘Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020’. This was a milestone in the organizations history. It committed APP to a journey that places sustainability at the heart of every facet of their operations.
APP has accelerated their pace of change since then. On February 5, 2013, APP published their new Forest Conservation Policy the most significant part of which was the announcement of an immediate end to all natural forest clearance throughout their entire supply chain.
The goal is clear – Zero Deforestation. This applies to the entire APP supply chain - now and in the future. APP is working with The Forest Trust (TFT) and a number of other NGOs and stakeholders to oversee implementation of policy and monitor APP’s progress.
Like many businesses, APP works to balance the world’s demand for products against the natural resources available to deliver them. APP operates in a particularly sensitive area of the world, and natural capital is the root of APP’s own capital. The issues are climate, conservation, community, and commerce and APP is determined to find a way to enable these four issues to thrive in harmony with each other.
