Atlanta, GA (September 9, 2014)
It has been eighteen months since Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) launched its groundbreaking Forest Conservation Policy in February 2013. Since then, the company has not only put sustainability at the forefront of its business model, but it has also continued to expand upon its zero deforestation commitment.
APP recently published an FCP Update. This report provides an in depth review of the progress APP has made over the past year.
Aida Greenbury, Managing Director of Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement for APP, introduces the report in saying, “Since we launched the FCP last year, the Zero Deforestation movement has become more and more global. There continues to be growing support from businesses, governments and civil society and we are proud to be playing a leading role.”
She goes on to say, “We recently committed to one of the largest rainforest conservation initiatives undertaken by any company in the world, with our promise to support the protection and restoration of one million hectares of tropical rainforest in Indonesia. This ambitious goal will help bring more players into the global Zero Deforestation movement, as it will need the co-operation of a broad range of stakeholders in the landscapes in which we operate.”
